Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6 or 7)

Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6 or 7)

Area: West, Central, and North Kent

Position: Part-time

Services: Specialist Down Syndrome Speech and Language Therapy Service – Kent

Rate: Starting salary commensurate with NHS Band 6 or 7 – Agenda for change, depending on skills and experience.

We’re recognised as leaders in supporting people with Down syndrome through syndrome-specific, evidence-informed speech and language therapy: our therapists contribute to the Down Syndrome CEN, collaborate on national initiatives such as the National Down Syndrome Policy Group, and are sought as experts by other services.

Our caseload is increasing, and we’re looking for a speech and language therapist to join our specialist Down Syndrome service serving West, Central, and North Kent — and growing to cover more locations in Kent.

Symbol UK is a not-for-profit speech and language therapy service. We are proud of the breadth of skills and experience in our staff team, where specialist speech and language therapists work alongside highly experienced therapists, assistants and co-workers across the South East.  This enables us to offer a range of specialist speech, language and communication assessments, intervention and support to children and adults with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities.

The post is flexible in that you could work with us for a few sessions each week, or take on a broader role including other Symbol projects, either during term time or year-round. Many of our therapists combine their work with Symbol with other employment or independent practice.

Starting salary commensurate with NHS Band 6 or 7 – Agenda for change, depending on skills and experience.  Therapists due to qualify in the next six months are encouraged to apply.
