Key Worker - Speech and Language Therapy

Salary: Dependent on experience, starting salary of £26,624 per annum (full-time equivalent), pro rata for 12 hours per week.

Location: Maidstone, Kent

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dedicated part-time role, providing focused one-to-one support to a woman in her 30s who has Down syndrome and lives in a shared flat, with support from Symbol's supported living team. In response to the circumstances of her life, a dedicated keyworker role has been established to provide consistent, relationship-based support alongside the 24-hour supported living team.

You'll spend two days a week with her at home, at day services, and doing the things she enjoys in her local area. She enjoys cooking, crafts, coffee shops and spending time with the important people in her life. You will support her to plan visits, attend appointments and take part in activities that are meaningful to her, as well as helping her maintain and strengthen her relationships with family, friends and her wider support network. You will act as a consistent point of contact for her family, while working closely with Symbol's supported living staff and other professionals to ensure personalised, joined-up support.

We're looking for someone who is warm, reliable and emotionally intelligent, with excellent communication skills and the ability to provide a calm, consistent presence, particularly when things feel difficult or uncertain. You will be confident taking initiative when necessary while also working collaboratively with guidance from others. You will enjoy building connections with families, support networks and professionals, and sensitively support her to explore her thoughts and feelings, pursue her goals and maintain the relationships that are important to her.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role will require an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and pre-employment checks in line with safer recruitment guidelines.
