Service: The Hopshed Theatre Company
Location: Staplehurst and Maidstone
Hours: 15 – 20 hours per week
Rate: Up to £20,359 per annum pro rata
We currently have a vacancy for a creative and forward-thinking Senior Arts Practitioner at The Hopshed Theatre Company, a ‘shed link’ of the world-famous Chickenshed, launched by The Symbol Trust in 2013.
The Hopshed service aims to empower and enrich lives through inspirational and inclusive theatre. This is achieved using creative and artistic workshops, specifically designed to engage and encourage members to make friends, develop new skills and grow in confidence in a vibrant, inclusive, and uplifting environment.
This role will involve working with a small but experienced team, highly dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for our clients and members.
Role and Responsibilities
Running skills development workshops for members with and without learning disabilities, focusing on singing, dancing, music, and drama
Work with the team to create and fine-tune theatre productions to be delivered by our members to local schools.
Your Experience and Suitability
We are looking for someone who is naturally compassionate, with previous skills, qualifications, and experience in performing arts and music. This is a long-term project, so we are keen to find someone who is looking to forge a career with us. To be considered for the role, you should:
Have experience in physical theatre as a performer and deviser.
Be committed to the concept of an inclusive society and have the desire to translate this concept into a performance context.
Experience in group work and ideally leading workshops.
Have previous experience creating innovative, fun, and exciting experiences using up-to-date technology.
Play an instrument; ideally, either the guitar or piano.
Having previous experience working with clients with learning disabilities would be ideal.
Holding a qualification in performing arts and/or art would be advantageous.
Have a warm and friendly personality with infinite enthusiasm and ideas.
