Due to considerable demand, we are expanding our existing Short Breaks service. This provides respite care for adults with additional needs away from their families.
We are looking for full and part time staff to assist service users with everyday tasks, accompany them in leisure activities, help with personal care and other duties as required. Some admin will also be involved in keeping records of events, medication, incidents etc.
The short breaks vary from weekends to full week long periods of support, so working patterns, on some occasions, can include long shifts followed by extensive time off. Hours will be confirmed depending on applicants and in the case of full time workers, may require some time worked elsewhere for the company within the local area.
Our Support Workers are at the heart of our unique approach to supporting people with learning disabilities to live lives with fewer limitations. Support Workers bring an opportunity for freedom and fulfilment into people’s lives, empowering them to achieve their ambitions, however big or small. In this life-changing and truly rewarding role, you’ll inspire others, empowering them to thrive, grow and realise their dreams.
We provide full training and on-going career development and you’ll also have inspiring colleagues around you to turn to for guidance. Our benefits are also pretty impressive and include a competitive pension scheme, generous holidays and excellent working conditions.
At Symbol we understand that everyone has different needs, and that disability affects people in very different ways; you’ll therefore provide tailored day-to-day support. Each day is often very different depending on whom you’re working with; your day could include offering support with household tasks, personal care or finances. You might also be supporting people to become more involved in their local community and access employment and education opportunities, if that’s what they want to do.
It’s a job that can be challenging at times, but this is balanced by the unrivalled sense of long-term satisfaction it also gives. It’s an opportunity to be creative and feel inspired, both by your colleagues and the people you support. It’s a career that you can feel proud of.
